About Us
National Foundation for Debt Management (NFDM) is a nonprofit consumer education and financial counseling agency. Our purpose is to educate individuals and families, enabling them to reach their financial goals and solve their financial problems through financial literacy education, credit counseling, pre and post-bankruptcy counseling and education, and comprehensive housing counseling.
National Foundation for Debt Management (NFDM) is committed to promoting consumer education, and provides a number of conferences and seminars on budgeting, credit, and debt management, within the community, as well as nationally through our web site. We publish a wide array of materials, providing educational and technical assistance on credit and budget management.
As a HUD approved housing counselor, NFDM has contracted with a number of Public Housing Authorities to offer comprehensive homeownership counseling. NFDM also provides the required homeownership counseling for many First Time Homeownership grant programs.
National Foundation for Debt Management (NFDM) is approved by the United States Trustee Program to provide pre-filing credit counseling as well as Debtors Education for New Jersey and New York bankruptcy filers. Under this program NFDM offers a personal financial education and counseling on the alternatives to resolve credit problems, analyzes the client's budget, their current financial condition, the factors that caused such financial condition, and how the client can develop a plan to respond to the problems without incurring negative amortization of debt.
